Podcast Ep.010 | A Holy History #5 – Exile

Show notes:

The people of Israel fall further and further into sin. God sends prophets to warn them and eventually they are take into exile.

  • Kingdom of Israel – conquered by Assyria in 700s BC
  • Kingdom of Judah – conquered by Babylon in 500s BC

The promises made to Abraham are at a low point:

  • the great nation is scattered
  • they are exiled from the promised land
  • they have been following foreign gods rather than being a blessing to all nations

But God stays faithful to his covenant with Abraham and promises to restore the people to their land.

God also promises to deal with the problem of sin by transforming their hearts from stone into flesh – enabling them to genuinely love God and other people

Jesus fulfils this promise by transforming our hearts through his Spirit.

Bible verses mentioned: Ezekiel 36:24-27, Jeremiah 31:33-34, John 3:5-8
