22 weeks bumpdate

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22…weeks pregnant!

Baby is the size of: a coconut

Round ligament pain: Baby’s growing quickly at the moment so I’ve been feeling some stretches and mild pain in my abdomen. Nothing severe, though, which means there’s no need to worry.

Mood swings: I’m either really happy and in love with baby or rather overwhelmed and stressed. Of course, I’m still in love with baby when I’m stressed! I’ve been getting anxious very quickly and tiny things can trigger it. Like when I saw a packet of chocolates someone had given my husband, I got all anxious about how hard it would be to instil healthy eating habits for our baby. Thankfully, it doesn’t happen all the time and it eases fairly quickly too.

Shortness of breath: This is a new one that’s just happened over the last week. I’m feeling like I don’t have as much energy – not in the sense that I want to sleep, but more like I can’t do as much physically. I had a very energetic infants class the other day, and that was very challenging. I greatly admire pregnant women who already have little kids!

Belly: I think I’m showing more than average. According to the ultrasound, my placenta is at the front of the uterus which could explain it. It’s okay though, cause I actually enjoy looking pregnant!

Movement: So many flutters! I think I may have felt some little kicks but I honestly have no idea. Again, the location of my placenta might make it a bit harder to feel the kicks.

Highlights: Picking out names. Now we know the gender, the process seems much more focused. And I think we’ve now settled on a name! We’d narrowed it down to three names that we liked best. I tried speaking them over my baby and one of them just felt right!

Daniel’s response: He’s been placing his hand on my belly, waiting for kicks. I don’t think he’ll actually feel anything for a few more weeks, but it’s lovely that he’s bonding with the baby too.

Looking forward to: Meeting up with some friends I haven’t seen in a while and showing off my bump!
